So, I finally filed my EDII application to the school! Sitting on fire for the next one month and a half!
Anyways, as said in the title, I wrote this little poem about my interest in the school, but I just couldn’t find a right place in the supplemental essays to put it. I’m thinking of handwriting it and then mailing it. Should I do that? Would they trash it immediately? I have heard mixed advices. Some said sending extraneous information/essays would be negative to my application, while some said it would show interest in the school.
I’m applying to a pretty selective NESCAC school with an application pool of 5500 by the way!
Thank you for reading! I really look forward to some help!
Best,
If you already sent in your application, probably better not to send the poem. Honestly, it may be very good but admissions officers have to deals with thousands of apps and dont want to waste time.
Imagine 10,000 other applicants sending these tiny things to show interest. That would just cause them to be a little annoyed in the midst of this crazy process.
Hope you see my point
I would not. They ask for what they want…
You may think the poem clever and/or creative, and perhaps it is. However, it is also an intentional attempt to add more to your admissions dossier than your competitors are allowed. I know you don’t intend it be be such, but that’s an unsanctioned and unfair competitive advantage, the admissions staff simply cannot allow it for that reason, and they may believe you’re being underhanded.
Thank you all for your points! I’ll save it and only send it once I get deferred/waitlisted !
