Sending first marking period grades to ED school

Primab:

Best to leave it to your GC. He can advocate for you far better than you could. So do talk to your GC and ask (nicely!) if he can follow up and make sure tha the fax has indeed been received and that the adcom understand that the grades you received are the best and they really ought to be considered with the rest of your application. You have an inbuilt advantage is that your school has a good reputation and your GC seems to know people in the admissions office. And, yes, there's time. Relax, have a good weekend (get some sleep!)

Thank you again Marite. It is going to be a long weekend...I hope I sleep before Monday.

I'm applying to a highly selective school that had a Nov 1st deadline. We recieved our first quarter grades last week, and I've sent them a letter with an updated copy of my transcript as well as notifying them that a new set of SAT II scores are on the way (taken on the last possible test date they accepted), since my score in math iic went up greatly - 620 to 780. Just thought they should know that my math, the one hang-up on my app, was taken care of, and that my first quarter grades were stronger than ever - 4.42 GPA.

In short, I don't think it will hurt. Plus, your son/daughter could use this letter to briefly re-emphasize how much he wants to attend the school!

This is going by overnight mail, by the way.

goes back to secretively burrowing around the Parents Forum

Well-don't the transcripts have to come from the school? If not-I will ask my GC if I can send them a letter-but to tell you the truth, I think "snail mail" isn't fast enough when they have said my app. is being (or was) reviewed already. I think it will have more weight coming from my GC- and will also show my interest. Anyway-applying ED shows them my interest already. My GPA for the 1st Q was at 4.29, up from 4.01-so very crucial to my app.

Good luck to you-hope you get good news and congrats. on your SAT II's.

Well, my school refuses to send quarter grades, since they're not officially on our transcript. So even though it's not official I figure I can send my copy anyway, it can't hurt and it's consistent with my previous grades - so it's not as if it'll look like I'm forging it.

Good luck to you too and thanks!
