I'm taking a subject test on the 18th. None of my grad schools require it although some recommend it so I was going to take it, see how I do, and then send the scores if they are okay. Will I be able to send my scores in time if I wait for them to come out?

Thanks!

I believe I sent my scores after finding out what they were, but I had to get the scores early over the phone, which cost money.

How do you send more than the four free ones? Is it like the SAT where you just go on the website and order them?

It used to be only on paper, but perhaps now ETS has gotten with the program and it can be done online.

you can order the score reports online. Check this for more info: Additional Score Reports

I am taking the Nov 8th subject test... and I read on the website that the scores will be available by phone on Dec 10th. Is this cutting it too close?

Also, does anyone know where I can find the list of schools I already sent my scores to? It's stupid, but I can't remember which ones I signed up to send my subject test scores to and which ones my general!

No, getting the scores by phone for the November subject test is absolutely fine. Admissions committees generally won't start looking over biomedical sciences apps until around or right after Christmas.

The schools you already sent your scores to will be listed on the bottom of your score report.

How close are you guys cutting it to the deadlines. Some of the places I am looking at require that all materials be in by December 8th so that they may begin pouring over them without delay (six weeks later). I suddenly had images of myself at the fed ex office on December 7th and sent all my scores and transcripts. When is an appropriate time to begin wringing our hands and sobbing to ourselves?

Thanks, molliebatmit. I'm relieved to hear that.

Belevitt... I'm applying to programs with deadlines on Dec 1, Dec 15 and Jan 15. I had the impression that it was okay if your GRE scores arrived later. Is the same true of letters of rec? Luckily for me, all but one of the programs I'm applying to have online applications, and my school provides online transcript service... so hopefully I won't have to worry too much about standing in line at FedEx. Don't know when the last call for mail applications is though...my guess would be at least a business week before the due date within state, and at least two interstate?

It's sort of okay for your recs to arrive later, but most programs have some absolute date by which they must receive all materials. I had a rec letter lost in the mail, and one of my Dec 15 deadline programs told me it needed to arrive by something like Jan 8 for my application to be considered. (My letter-writer faxed it immediately.) Another program didn't get my GRE scores, and offered me an interview contingent upon getting my GRE scores in by late January.

They are used to materials taking time to get to them, and in many cases, applications are being put together by administrative staff for a week or more after the official application due date. It's okay if some of your materials straggle in, particularly those over which you don't have much control.

If possible, though, I would recommend Fedex for paper materials. Just for the peace of mind.
