sending HS transcript for common app

My son showed me the common app school forms page.

It looks like now they can do recommendation letters on line. This is new: my first son two years ago did not have this option.

But I assume the transcript should still be sent via snail mail. Is this right, or can the schools also electronically submit transcripts and secondary school reports?

Anyone who already went through the transcript submission part of the common app?

The transcript can be submitted online as well. I’m not certain if a special program is necessary - many schools use Naviance, but I think there are also other methods. The school counselor would be the one to submit it online along with the secondary school report, so you should probably ask her how she deals with transcripts!

Some high schools (and some high school counselors) won’t do the on-line; at least they did not at D’s high school. You might want to check with your child’s school and find out what their policy/practice is.

The decision about how to submit the transcript and school forms is made by the schools. From an applicant’s perspective, you have your S should do everything online including inviting his counselor to complete the school forms and any ED contract. Then have your S go talk to the counselor so he understands whether his school is submitting by mail or online. If it’s by mail, he’ll want to provide his GC with addresses for his schools and possibly also envelopes and postage, depending on how the school’s procedures work.

If it is by mail, have the envelopes completed with the addresses, including postage, along with a return address of the GC’s name and school address. Prepare the address labels from your computer.
