Because of a situation with one of his bank accounts, my dad won't be able to submit his taxes before March 2. If we mail IDOC on March 2 or 3, would we be severely penalized in terms of financial aid (that is, if I miraculously get in)? Do you know how Harvard usually responds to late IDOC submissions?

Last year I made a bad error on the FAFSA, CSS, and IDOC, that I didn’t catch until after the acceptances rolled in. I found the FA offices at Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Georgetown, etc. to be extremely accommodating and willing to accept the now late amended FAFSA, etc. It didn’t have any effect on Financial Aid, in fact Brown and Harvard made their awards without the corrected documents (the error had to do with transposed SSNs, not the dollars). I think you should send in the IDOCs as soon as you can. Your lateness will not affect the admission decision at a need-blind school like Harvard. Once you know if you are accepted, contact the financial aid office immediately if an award does not come with the letter (but I bet it will).

I am in a similar situation. I submitted my FAFSA and CSS on time for Harvard, but my dad has been having a difficult time in getting an appointment with his tax guy for the necessary documents. I was accepted to Harvard early action so I already have a preliminary estimate of my financial aid packet. Will they still consider my financial aid?
