Sending in a 3rd SAT II...advice?

So I already have 800 Math II and 780 Chem.

I took only Physics in November and scored a 730. I was surprised at the mark because I was getting 800 on all practice papers but it was kind of expected; I was in a large house fire like 2 nights before and spend a good 8-12 hours in the hospital getting treated for smoke inhalation so I wasn't preforming optimally. But I digress.

Should I send the score in? I already wrote on my app that I was taking physics but I didn't place Yale in my 4 free choices for Physics. It's for SCEA so I know there is a chance it might not even reach in time now but yeah...so should I even spend the $10?

Why would you want to dilute your scores? Y only needs two subj tests. relax

I’m normally a proponent of sending all scores. But, since you’ve already sent them, and they require only 2, then why bother to spend time and money?

I know you’re probably thinking “But it’s still a good score and might actually ADD to my profile by showing I scored well in still another test and not just 2 select tests”. But, while it is certainly a good score, I’m thinking it’s more a pretty standard score as compared to the typical YALE’s applicant. So I agree, imo, it adds nothing.

Good luck.

Thanks.

That was the opinion I was leaning towards anyway. Well now I have an extra $10 for food :).

laughed so hard i choked on my water

that’s not funny at all.

ok, well excuse meee for laughing

i mean, yes that’s sad if it happened, but in this context, it just sounded funny cuz something like that is so far fetched. and it reminds me of everyone who complains about having ADD, getting sick etc

I sent in all of my scores. It was just easier for me that way.

Don’t you “have” to send in all your scores since they don’t use Score Choice?

I know you’ve already sent your other scores in, but if you refrain from sending in the Nov. one, doesn’t that defeat the purpose of not having Score Choice when they want to see everything?

Idk, I took a Nov test too for a 4th subject and was under the impression that it was required.

@ Pig
Please. Tell me how you would feel if you woke up to your room on fire and end up 12 hours later stuck in a hospital bed, breathing oxygen because your O2 levels were too low and with 1st and 2nd degree burns on your legs. My spit was black from soot for two days. And it happened Thursday night so I spent all of Friday in the hospital and got home around midnight Friday. Tell me how you’d preform the next day. That was just disrespectful.

@everyone other than Pig.
It’s not a question of sending all my scores. It’s a question of just sending another report for $10 just to add an extra score that, as others have said, wouldn’t really add to my app. Don’t think it’s like equating to me using Score Choice if I already sent all my scores already w/o using Score Choice then and satisfied their requirements…

I don’t personally think it matters. Yale’s undergraduate admissions office always states that they only consider the best two test scores, so I really wouldn’t worry about it. If you’re really on the fence, email your admissions officer and ask just to make sure. For some reason, I remember from some random other post of yours that you’re Canadian, like me. If this is the case, I should warn you that our admissions officer isn’t always very quick to respond to emails. I don’t really blame her, if I were doing her job, I’d probably never get time to answer emails, haha. Either way, your best bet might be to write on Elihu Yale’s wall on Facebook.

I’m amazed that you were able to take the SAT in spite of the horrible events preceding the test date. That takes a lot of drive and determination. Best of luck to you. :)

ok i’m sorry for not showing sympathy, but to be honest this explanation made me laugh harder

i have no heartttt =[ </3

Thanks rockermcr. Appreciate it. And yes I’m Canadian too. And yeah, emails take forever to come back. Dartmouth decided to reply to 3 of my emails about their ED the day after their deadline! (didn’t apply for that anyway)
