sending in a new essay after submission?

i submitted my common app essay to my colleges on january 1, but i editted the essay later on. it's not THAT big of a difference, it has another paragraph and some word changes and other small edits, but i like the revised version a lot more. i called my colleges and they said i could fax in the revised essay if i'd like. i'm wondering though, would it look bad if i did that? i mean it'd have a new essay in my folder saying "READ THIS ONE INSTEAD," or something. would that look irresponsible? should i just leave it?

oh and also when i called the wellesley office about it she pretty much said "you can fax it in, but i cant answer if it would make a difference or not."
she also said that she would imagine that my application is being read already

so i'm really unsure.

thanks :)

I wouldn't send it in. it's been a couple weeks since you applied, and sending a revised essay could just make them notice the problems in your other one and make you seem like a major procrastinator.

do you think if i faxed it and wrote a note that said to read the new one rather than the old one, they'd just disregard the original essay?

I'm sorry, but that's not allowed.

well i mean i've called the offices and asked about it..

For minor variations, I wouldn't resend the essay. I don't think colleges would like that.
