I was reading an essay I sent in on January 1st again this weekend, and I noticed quite a few places where I can make the essay noticeably stronger. I had already edited the essay quite a few times before submitting it, but now I think I can really improve it even more. Is it too late to do anything about it? (deadline being Jan. 4th) Can I by any chance contact the admissions office or smth, explain my situation, that it's not like I wrote a new essay in this time, just polished parts of it a little, and hopefully get this revised essay in? It's just making a few words stronger, but I think it would greatly add to the essay. What do you guys think? Is there anything I can do about it now? (I'm asking now because supposedly colleges don't begin reading apps until February, so perhaps there still is hope...) Or should I stop thinking about it?

I seriously doubt a request like that will be granted since that would defeat the purpose of a deadline. It would also set a bad precedent: that you can edit your essay AFTER the deadline - soon, thousands of students would request schools to send in a revised version of the essay. It would also be unfair since some applications have already been ‘processed’.

i assume this is brown we’re talking about?

actually it’s Columbia…
