I have a question for all the U of M experts about ACT/SAT and applications that has been bugging me for a while...

Well I was planning to retake the ACT and the SAT in October and I heard that they won't look at your application until you send in your new scores which means they wouldn't see it until late October. I'm afraid that could hurt my chances. Should I just send in my current scores and not retake or do you think sending it in later won't hurt my chances?

I am in-state, have a 4.0 (4.2 weighted), 31 (ACT), 2010 (SAT), 800's on all SAT II's, 5's on all AP's, and a lot of great in depth EC's, leadership, and research.

I am still planning to retake the tests for some out-of- state colleges but I want to know if i should sumbit for Umich...

Thanks for any help

Turn the app in now with your current scores, and mark down that you also plan to take it again at a future date.

You'll be accepted either way. I would just apply early using only your ACT score. That way you'll also have some experience filling out apps when you apply to your reach colleges. You typically get better as you fill out more.

If you're looking for scholarships, I would retake that ACT and score 34+.

Well I was planning on having everything sent out by september 10th-ish but wouldn't the admissions office not see the app until late October because they will be waiting for my new ACT score (which will most likely be 33+)? I just don't want to risk my chances...

To be honest, with your GPA and instate status, applying in september with a 31 ACT will get you accepted, just as applying later with a 33 ACT will.
