Sending in ACT w/ writing but not all SAT scores?

I've taken the SAT twice, various SAT Subjects (with Math II twice), and ACT w/ writing. I want to send in all of my scores except for a single low SAT II score. From what I understand, because I'm going to send in my ACT score, sending in my SAT scores will then be considered supplemental. In that case, can I pick and choose which scores from which dates I want to send, or am I still required to send in ALL of my scores?

It is my understanding that if you submit any SAT scores (in addition to your ACT plus Writing) you must submit ALL SAT results from your entire secondary school tenure. You may wish to validate this with a brief call to Duke Undergraduate Admissions.

@TopTier I actually had my guidance counselor call Duke admissions officers today. This is what she told me:
“I spoke with Duke and if you send your whole report from ACT, you are allowed to pick your SAT Subject Tests that you send, or you can send none!”

@Draydaze‌: Thank you. I find that very interesting, since Undergraduate Admissions’ website indicates the current (Class of 2019) policy is: “All candidates for admission must complete one of the following standardized testing options: the test of the ACT, including the writing exam or the College Board SAT, plus two SAT Subject Tests. Duke requires that students send their full testing record for either the ACT or SAT and SAT Subject exams taken in high school.” The final sentence seems unambiguous to me and it clearly states, “their FULL testing record for . . . SAT and SAT Subject exams taken in high school.”

Here’s the applicable URL: <a href=“Apply - Duke Undergraduate Admissions”>http://admissions.duke.edu/application/instructions</a></p>

@TopTier I was definitely confused when I read that; there was certainly a lot of ambiguity, so I decided to take the safest route and just ask my GC. So now, I am sending in just my SAT II scores and ACT with writing scores.

@TopTier‌: I think the ambiguity arises where the student fulfilled condition [1] above and would like to augment that data. To me, it is not clear that Duke requires all SAT scores if the all ACTs condition has already been met, although I have a hunch that they may clarify this for next year.

@SomeOldGuy‌: I agree; in fact, I suspect they may calrify this somewhat sooner than the next admissions cycle.

@TopTier I’ve always interpreted that same sentence as the following: either applicants must send in ALL of their ACT with writing scores, OR they must send in ALL of their SAT AND SAT Subject scores. Basically, the ACT is interchangeable with ALL of the SAT tests (regular and subject both) and vice versa.

This page in particular (<a href=“Apply - Duke Undergraduate Admissions”>Apply - Duke Undergraduate Admissions) clearly separates the ACT from the SAT/SAT IIs by grouping the latter together as one option and setting aside the ACT as the alternative option. They even mention it in the FAQ: “If I take the ACT, can I also submit SAT Subject Tests?
-Although we do not require or expect SAT Subject Test scores from candidates who take the ACT with Writing to fulfill our testing requirement, we do accept them and will consider them as an additional demonstration of subject proficiency.”

I’m pretty confident that if I send in the ACT, I don’t have to send in any of my SAT scores at all, but my real question is more of what @SomeOldGuy somewhat touched upon. Basically, I’m just wondering if sending in extra scores is sort of an all-or-nothing situation: either I send in none of my SAT scores at all, or if I choose to send in a single score, all of the rest must follow. Of course, based off of all of your replies, there doesn’t seem to be a certain answer to this because there’s too much ambiguity.

Thank you all for your feedback, however!
