Does brown look badly upon students who just send in the SATs. I am from new york and about 99 percent of people here send their SATs and im afraid if i only send in my ACTs that they wont look at it favorably. Is it ok to be from New York and only send in your ACT scores?

sorry that first sentence should say ACTs not SATs

I want to know this also. I know that they are suppose to take both favoring one or the other. But has anyone had any expierence with this. for example got accepted or rejected b/c of just sending ACTs

From GA, I submitted ACT only (33) and was accepted to Brown and Amherst.

All schools in the United States accept both the ACT and the SAT. Even Harvard said in a New York Times interview that they don't care what test you take and do well on as long as you take one of them and meet their standards. Really, some people do better on the ACT than SAT and vice versa, and some do well on both. Also remember that if you want to apply to Brown, then you will need SAT IIs, and the ACT, for some schools, compensates for one SAT II requirement; I don't know if this applies to Brown. Either way you'll want to look at that, but if you send in your SAT II scores and you've already taken the regular SAT, then they will see your scores no matter what.

the act does compensate for sat 2's at brown/
