Sending in Additional Information

WHile looking at some of the discussions on CC I noticed that colleges generally send out acceptance and rejection letters at around March. Is this true for all schools? Do they send you a rejection/acceptance letter in March?

With this is mind can you still send in additional information to the school in Februray? or does it depend on the school?

Thank You.

bump bump…I really need to know.

It’s not like colleges take the applications, sit on them for three months, and then quickly review them all the day before they send out acceptances. It takes that long for them to review all the applications, and they can’t go re-review every application when someone wants to add extra information.

Now, it’s possible that if you really really need to, you will be able to send in additional information in February. But it’s not something that you should be EXPECTING.

I see your point, and it’s something that I had not considered before. I actually wanted to send in my Transcript (one with an upgraded exam) so that they could review it again. I don’t know that that makes a difference since it would take less time to just see that I improved on two exams that I did poorly in. As opposed to reading another essay or viewing a video.

What about mid-year reports? When we send in the mid-year reports, is that a transcript, because I saw forms needed to be filled out (not actual transcripts). I’m assuming that colleges havent already accepted/rejected students when they want the mid-year report in by Feb.? Do they review the mid year report then accept/reject? or do they already have the accepted students and want to make sure that they are still doing what they are supposed to be doing?

Sorry it this was long, but I need to change that exam grade.

In that case, maybe you would be able to. I’d ask beforehand though, to be safe.

You shouldn’t plan to send anything after the original packet is sent. It’s much more likely to get lost or tossed. That said, I think you should get all your ducks in a row before the envelope is sent. As for transcript, etc. some HS send it out electronically. Generally, they just want to see that you’ve maintained your grades. If anything is out-of-whack, your GC should write something. You would only want to resend something if you’re on a Wait List and even that should be significant news that might tip their decision.
