Sending in AP scores

Hi, we would appreciate it if someone could provide info on how to send AP scores to Cornell for a freshman student for this fall. Basically:

The student has taken 8 AP tests, but plans to take credit for 4-5 courses only

Should the student then request College Board to send only those scores to Cornell?

How will Cornell (CAS)associate these scores with this student (student ID) who will be enrolling in fall? Will it show up in the student's NetID account someplace?

Will the student have to call up someone in Cornell (CAS) to let them know that the AP scores have been requested and provide a NetID?

How does one go about claiming credit for these courses at Cornell? I presume the student has to indicate someplace as to what credits are being claimed?

Should all this be done now, or is there some more appropriate time/schedule to follow?

Thanks for any helpful advice.

2. Should the student then request College Board to send only those scores to Cornell?

Yes.

3. How will Cornell (CAS)associate these scores with this student (student ID) who will be enrolling in fall? Will it show up in the student’s NetID account someplace?

The scores show up on the student center.

3. Will the student have to call up someone in Cornell (CAS) to let them know that the AP scores have been requested and provide a NetID?

No.

4. How does one go about claiming credit for these courses at Cornell? I presume the student has to indicate someplace as to what credits are being claimed?

They automatically go toward the proper courses (or none–be sure to check) unless one decides to take the appropriate course anyone. I’m not sure if there’s a process for “forfeiting” AP credits.

5. Should all this be done now, or is there some more appropriate time/schedule to follow?

If you want the school to get scores, have College Board send them as soon as possible.

Thanks for your reply. We will contact AP to send the scores at the earliest. The only issue we are not clear is if the student’s name is “John Doe”, and if Cornell receives scores for this student tomorrow, how will it know if this student is going to be a freshman this fall, or if it is some other John Doe? There must be some identifying info that ties the AP scores sent by CollegeBoard with this particular freshman.

There’s probably something detailed that gives it away. I don’t remember since I had my scores sent a long time ago.

I think they include your DOB and possibly SSN (if you provided it when you took the tests)
