Sending in brand new essays after EA

I was deferred from uchicago early, and I realized that a big reason might have been my essays. Although my "where is Waldo" essay was up to par, my common app essay and "why uchicago" essay are not nearly polished and mastered as my RD essays. What does CC think about sending in a brand new packet of essays to uchicago? I'm mostly afraid that it will just confuse the adkins and hurt me, but at the same time, I feele like my admissions chances would go up immensely with the new writing. If I were to send it, how should I word the request? Will advocating of looking at the supplelments before digging through my original essays again? Will ending new essays make me seem irresponsible? I also plan on sending a music supplement and an update of my resume along with the essays.

Thanks!

Do not send any new essays, all that says is, ‘I deserve special treatment’.

I would send them if I believe they gave me a better chance. Talk to the admissions rep. for your area about submitting the extra stuff. They would probably interpret the extra stuff as the interest you have in the school and I am pretty sure they suggested that deferred students could boost chances by showing that they really want to attend.

^There’s a difference between submitting ‘extra stuff’ and resubmitting essays, that’s why I specified the rewritten essays, not the music supplement or updated resume.

Everyone has the same opportunity to write and tune their essays by the deadline, to think that you are permitted to send in new essays after being deferred reeks of entitlement and is not going to fly with Adcoms who have their pick of many highly qualified applicants.

I don’t see why this would be a bad idea. Just say that since your deferral, you decided to work on your essays more because the school is still ur #1 choice.

OP, listen to entomom if you don’t want to seal your fate with a rejection

@entomom So how would you feel if the OP submitted a new essay expressing interest rather than tweaking the ones previously submitted? You are allowed to do that.

’…to think that you are permitted to send in new essays after being deferred reeks of entitlement…’
No, it is a benefit of applying early. You find out where you stand and you get a second chance to correct areas you believe you fell short.

*I apologize for all the typos in the original post, I typed it on a phone and didn’t realize all the errors until I got to my laptop at home!

So what I’m getting is a unanimous agreement for me to send my “extra info” like resume, but to not send any extra essays? For clarification, the extra essays would be completely new, not edits of the previous ones. It didn’t cross my mind that this would seem pretentious to adcoms [I guess that means Im pretentious :(].

The reason I was thinking about sending new essays to Uchicago specifically is because I know Uchicago places a HUGE emphasis on essays, and I don’t think that the essays I sent previously are going to cut it. I guess I feel kind of a do-or-die imperative, where I am confident that I will get rejected anyway.

I find it slightly humorous your name is Uchicago2017

Well, it is my first choice school :P

I do not agree with sending ANY additional ESSAYS.

What don’t you get about the application deadline, which includes essays, being over/past/done/finished?
