Sending in Recs before Application?

Is it bad if your teacher sends in recommendations for you send in any of the common app materials? Are there any disadvantages if the recs are received before the rest of the app? This is probably answered on other threads, sry, I'm low on time, thanks for your time.

I'm wondering about this also.

I think, as in the case of other parts of the app, they simply create a file for you and wait for your application. Not completely sure, though.

Happens all the time. Schools know that you have no control over when teachers mail their recommendations. Don't worry about it.

Attended a final college planning session at S and D's private school this weekend. Assoc. Dean/Director for Admissions at NYU strongly suggested that all information be sent together whenever possible. Why? Because in some cases, materials arriving separately can generate 2 separate files- when time arrives for admissions deliberations, staff see an incomplete file and may not spend time/or be able to reconcile both files.

I had never thought of this- so it was a wake-up call in our home. Also, 2 adcoms who were there strongly suggested calling admissions office within a week of sending materials, to ensure they are there and appropriately logged.
