Sending in SAT scores for the UC System?

Hey all,

So I took the SAT for the third time yesterday. The thing is, I'm not too confident about it and my score might have dropped from the second time I took it (2060). Should I take it again in December? What would the UC system think if I said that I plan to retake the test in December, but I end up scoring lower than my second time? I don't really get how sending in your scores on the December SAT works for the UC system when the apps are due at the end of November. Should I just put my highest score in and also check the box that tells me that I plan to retake it in December?

UC will look at your SAT scores from December if you choose to send them in. Just make sure to included them in the list of schools you want your scores to be immediately sent to after taking the test in order to make sure they see them. UCs will only look at the highest score you received in one sitting, so even if you did worse on the December one, it’s your highest that will count. The reason why they’ll take December tests is because they have A LOT of people to read over and it’s going to take much longer to read all the applicants than it’s going to take for your December scores to arrive at whatever admissions office you apply to.

In my opinion 3 tests is a bit overdoing it, especially if you didn’t do significantly better your second time compared to your first. Only take it if you think you’re going to do better and significantly better, 50+ points.

GL (applying to UCs too :3 go Berkeley!)

Alright, thanks! I did improve by a solid amount from my first time to my second time (by 250 points), and I did study quite a lot between the October and November test, but I just felt like the November test threw some curveballs at me and I know I could do better. I guess it wouldn’t hurt me to take it again in December since I got my personal statements all reviewed and revised early, so I don’t need to worry about those ;p.
