Sending in Senion 1st Quarter Grades - Clash with Deadline?

So I have a quick question about senior 1st quarter grades. The EA school's postmark deadline for all application material is Nov 1st. But my senior 1st quarter grades won't be processed until the first week of November, after Nov 1. My counselor said she could still send it if the school requires it, but they'll only be able to send the transcript and the recommendations AFTER Nov 1. Does this mean that I DON'T have to send in my senior grades, just my 9th-11th grade transcript? Or does it differ for each school?

Thanks!

It means you need to send your first quarter grades as soon as they are available. If they don't come by Nov. 1, that's OK - colleges know that high schools have different schedules.

Of course, your grades from 9-11 should be sent on time, and your senior year grades follow when available.

Do evaluators wait to review your app until your first senior grades are sent in even if its january?

Evaluators don't wait for January grades for EA; they can't since the decisions are made in December. They do for RD. They may also evaluate the rest of your application while waiting for the grades, and then do a final "read" once the grades have come in.

Some schools set the ED/EA deadline in the beginning of November, but don't actually start looking at the applications until late November/early December. This allows forms like your 1st quarter grades to reach there before evaluation.

Bumping this up from a long time ago for another question. :)

Is it mandatory to send in senior 1st quarter grades if you're applying ED/EA to highly selective schools, like the Ivies? I've searched CC, but I've heard conflicting stories...

I was under the impression that it was a "Midyear" aka Semester Report...
I am pretty sure that they will require it. I think i can recall columbia showing something that said that. try their websites, or email them, they can get back to you in less than a day.

You are required to send in whatever they ask for. If they don't ask for quarter grades, you don't have to send them in. Many schools don't because a lot of high schools don't have quarter grades. Check the ED/EA schools' websites or call admissions to be sure.
