I know Columbia says they discourage supplementary recs, but I've worked closely with my mentor teacher for two years and I believe it provides more depth to my passion for teaching. Anyway, the best that can happen is they read it, the worst? They throw it away.

I'm wondering how I go about sending it in though. I'll mail it to the office of admissions, but do I put my SSN on the letterhead or the envelope? Should my supplemental rec'er sign the seal of the envelope like teachers do? Questions...questions.

My S had 3 suppl recs (one from his Drama reacher, one from his community theatre director, and one form a Columbua alum who spke of his "fit"). Eachbone sent separately by the recommender, and each signed the seal.

Did he put his SSN on the envelope or the rec?

Each recommender out my S's SSN# and high school name in parentheses right after his name in the first paragraph ofthe letter.

I already got recs which signed seal. But there are only my boy's name without SSN and School name. Should I request again? May I mail by myself by using larger envelop which including SSN and School name?

I think the latter (mail yourself in larger envelope with SSN# and high school included) should be fine. Good luck!

Thanks columbiamom!
