Im sort of confused about something. I asked my guidance counselor about sending scores to colleges; will sending a score report include one date of test scores, or my entire history. She told me my entire history, but she said normally at my school, as long as my school has a record of all my scores that they send out my test scores for free, not the testing agency.

Is this really acceptable for admissions? I see many college websites that want the exams to come from the testing agency. Should I ask more into how they send out the scores (like, do they go through the testing agency for me)?

As far as I know, all colleges require official scores that are sent directly from Collegeboard. I’m not sure how your guidance office would do that since it requires your username and password for security reasons. I would clarify that with guidance. How, exactly do they send your scores? Check the colleges web site, as well. They will probably state that scores must be officially sent from Collegeboard. To do that, you go to Collegeboard, log in, click on “Send Scores”. Your scores will come up and at the bottom of each testing date will be a button to send your scores. After that it is pretty self expalnatory. Good luck!

When you take the SAT, CollegeBoard sends your scores to your high school. Your high school keeps them on file and can send them to colleges for you, saving you money. However, top schools usually don’t trust high schools and require official score reports to be sent to them straight from CollegeBoard. I believe every college on the Common App requires official score reports.

I don’t know of any colleges that don’t require official score reports, but I know they exist.

How exactly do the colleges in question check my application against the scores I’ve sent in? I ask because I took my SAT Is 2 years ago and am only applying now, and for whatever reason didn’t put my full name as it appears on official documents. Will having only my first and last name on the Collegeboard-reported results and including my middle name on Common App and the couple of places I’m going with their own application lead to complications?

I thik it is probably not a problem but you may want to call Collegeboard with your questions. On their site there is a “contact Us” button. It will give you a toll free number to call. I had to call them once with a question and they were very helpful.

FYI: at collegeboard.com you now have the option of sending scores from specific sittings. So if you took the SAT 3 times and did better the 1st and 3rd times, you can just send those scores. Likewise, if you did best in one single sitting, you can choose to send just the scores from that test date. Can be useful depending on your situation. Good luck!
