Or should I only send in the act? Duke lists you have to take the Sat and 2 subject tests or the ACT. Can it help my application to send SAT ii's anyway with the ACT?

It depends on what the ACT and SAT II scores are. However, in most cases, it won’t impact the application at all.

Duke routinely receives high ACT scores (33+, which is the 99%). If yours is in this range, having further documentation of your test-taking excellence will not have much additional impact.

If your ACT is lower than 33, having Subject Tests in the 750+ range might mitigate it slightly, but the adcoms will likely be looking at other parts of your application to heavily offset the low score.

Instead of worying about your SAT IIs, I would recommend making sure that your ACT is as high as possible.

I sent my ACT and 3 SAT II subject tests and got in. I don’t think my SAT IIs did much to help my case, but if you have strong scores across the board, it won’t hurt to send them. I’ve heard Guttentag talk about how Duke looks for **consistently **excellent applicants - demonstrating that you have aptitude in a variety of academic subjects simply reinforces the fact that you would be a strong addition to the Duke community and can handle the academic rigors. Thus, if they’re all very strong scores, I’d send them all. The more data Duke has that paints you in a positive light, the better. However, if your SAT IIs aren’t as strong, then just sending the ACT should be sufficient. Hope that helps.

I got a 33 is that good for Duke? What did you all get??
