Sending in the application for Early Decision this week!!

Now, I know everyone is qualified to a great degree, but what is everyone’s number one concern about their application (weakness)?

Mine: ACT score (it’s in the range, but i’m not too happy with where it lies)

SAT subject test scores, ACT (decent and in their range, but could be better)

Geep.

10char

Probably test scores. No subject tests, and I opted for my ACT (32 - could have been better if I’d just retaken it beyond the one time). It’s in the range, certainly, but I would feel much more comfortable with a 33 or 34.

Resume. I’m applying for theatre but I am worried I haven’t had enough training…

Academically (GPA, test scores, difficulty of classes…), I should be fine.

sat reading and writing. math is a 770 but the other 2 arent so strong (applying to mccormick)

Did anyone here in interview or attend a “small group meeting”?

There’s one new thing I’m worried about that has only come to my attention recently. I plan to pursue a major or minor in Chinese. In my ‘Why Northwestern’ essay, I made reference to the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies program, based on information that I found on that department’s page at the NU website. I noticed that some of the information was a few years outdated, but I didn’t think anything of it.

Looking back over some of the informational stuff I got when I visited NU, I saw no mention of that department: instead, there was a “Program of African and Asian Languages.”

Going back to the website, the page for AMES is nowhere to be found and PAAL is now in its place.

I’m suspecting that they changed the department’s name in the past year or two, and for some reason the website was the last thing to change. Does anyone know the story here? Will this reflect badly upon me as an applicant?
._.

Toward, there’s no more Asian and Middle Eastern Studies program? Are you 100% sure? I was planning on doing a minor in that, and I saw it on the NU site…I had no idea it’s nonexistent now

Update: Found [the AMES web page](http://www.asianandmiddleeast.northwestern.edu/index.html) after all, and it does appear on NU’s list of majors (I didn’t see it at first). So, never mind about most of that … sigh of relief
Although I still don’t really understand the two different programs. They seem to overlap considerably…

Sorry for the confusion, Dana!

Also sorry for double post, I hate the edit time limit here. @_@

gosh, I was really freaking out for a little bit…

haha no problem…i was like “I could’ve sworn I saw it on there”…that’s good though that it’s still there…

So has anyone received any updates? Does anyone know when decisions typically drop? Has there been any coverage in the Daily or NBNW on how many applications were processed this year? I’m getting anxious. This ****'s going to get real after Thanksgiving Break.

Don’t they send us usernames and passwords at some point which we can use to check our application status? That’s the impression I got from past threads, but not sure

NU Intel reports ED applications are up 8%. [NU sees 8 percent increase in early apps | NU Intel](<a href=“nuintel.net - This website is for sale! - nuintel Resources and Information.”>nuintel.net - This website is for sale! - nuintel Resources and Information.)

ED decisions typically come out a few days before Dec. 15 - do a search on old CC threads. I think my son found out online Dec 11 or 12 two years ago. I think that last year ED decisions came out later though - maybe on the 15th? (again, check the old CC threads!)

ED decisions came out on 12/13 last year:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/northwestern-university/614706-official-class-2013-early-decision-results-thread.html</a></p>

So, we’re pretty much locked in at a 33 to 35 percent admit rate. Last year, NU filled 28 percent of their roughly 2,000-student freshmen class with ED matriculants — that’s about 560 kids, give or take the total class size. If they received 1,670 ED apps this year, then that equates to about a 33.5 percent acceptance rate. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m seriously agonizing over this everyday. why can’t we just know?!

Haha. Just three weeks! It’ll go by faster if you don’t think about it.

Yeah, Toward, but I have to apply to my second choice school by the 1st. It’s hard not to think about it when you’re wondering if it’ll even matter that you make the deadline! =P

So only about 560 students are accepted… S***…
