Agreed with the scores… It always seems to be the bugger of the one section (for me science) that brings your whole flippin score down! Then you retake it and that section goes up, some of the others go down by a couple points!

Did everyone finish their CSS? I know some people delay theirs till February, which is what i’m doing for Uchicago

yeaaaaahhhhh don’t really want to intergect here with all the hype going on but, as a Junior looking to go to NU, will standardized testing perhaps coverup a lack of extracurriculars such as not having a diverse service list meaning only having 2 or 3?
34 ACT (32/35/34/36)
790 Physics SAT II
800 Math SAT II

AND (sorry for the questions) how important is NHS? Is it held in really high regard, because i didnt make it = ( (but its all good). Once again, a lack of diversity in service was the one to blame.

AND FINALLY, GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE THAT APPLIED ED. I WILL PROBABLY FOLLOW YOUR FOOTSTEPS NEXT YEAR.

olleger: 34 is a GREAT score! I don’t know how many ECs you have, but if you do ED that might compensate, as I’m sure most of us here hope will happen (with SAT/ACT scores). You still have time, join clubs. (and forget about NHS)

Broski, don’t sweat the lack of extracurriculars. I’d recommend picking up one or two you genuinely care about before you apply to NU, but it appears you are well on track already.

Uhh, that says it’s for graduate students pursuing agribusiness… and I am neither a graduate student nor pursuing agribusiness. Did I miss something?

Toward: I think it was supposed to be a joke… I scrolled down and saw the University of Idaho and laughed (no offense to anyone who is applying there)!

Thanks Glenny and cclolzftw, makes feel better knowing its possible. Now its just time to wait for PSAT scores. Again, does Commended/Semi-finalist/Finalist hold much weight at NU?

hahahaha some guy from Cornell won the award. The Potato people were probably extatic that they got some guy from a top dog school to apply… or to even find it.

@Dana - Haha, I can seriously see myself checking my e-mail and either scream “NOOO” or start jumping up and down in the middle of class.

I filed my CSS about 2 or 3 weeks ago. They said they want EDers to file them by Dec 1 so if accepted, we can hear back from the financial aid office around the same time we get our admission decision.

My mom is getting the CSS profile finished tonight and, hopefully, sent - is that going to be fine? I assume it is, since a) the date does say the 1st, and b) in all of my “OMG, OMG, THE DEADLINE!!” freakouts, the admissions office has been very helpful and seemed to not be too rigid. Texas, meanwhile, has not been nearly as helpful. Boo.

But still, I was wondering if anyone knew whether a CSS profile would have a delay in sending, or if NU sees it as an ‘in house’ deadline, or a ‘sent by this date’ deadline? I’m more than willing to e-mail the financial aid office to let them know it’s on the way. =)

Perididdle: I think they actually give you leeway till the 2nd. This is only an early estimate. So if you end up at northwestern, you can send your CSS by priority deadline in january or february and still get fin aid, but of the course most want to see their fin aid estimate with their acceptance.

I think they’re very slack about it. They’ll prob even accept it after the deadline. You should email though if you’re still in “Freak out” mode.

36, of course, is a fantastic score. It will definitely set off some bells no matter what goes along with it.

As for your GPA, what sort of makeup did it have (as in, lots of A’s and a few really bad classes, or a mix of A’s and B’s over time)? Was there an upward trend in your grades over your time in high school? And how tough were the classes? I think if you have a nice upward trend and/or you clearly took a rigorous set of courses, the 36 could offer a bit of grace for you. This is just my prediction, though.
