Okay, so here's the deal. I've been accepted to three colleges (Cornell College, Colorado College, and Ball State). Cornell College is my first choice and I've already decided that I want to go there. The thing is, I'm still waiting to hear from Vanderbilt, Emory, Stanford, and Harvard. I don't want to go to any of these last four schools, I just want to see if I get in. If I go ahead and send my deposit to Cornell, do I have to withdraw my applications from the schools that haven't accepted me yet?

Pretty sure you’re supposed to pull your other apps. What’s your motivation for waiting? Bragging rights? (Not judging…just wondering!) Or is there a teeny tiny part of you thinking that if you get into Harvard you would reconsider your decision? If that’s the case…and there aren’t any significant benefits to sending in the deposit early (ie housing priority etc) I would just wait until 4/1.

Oh, just bragging rights. I mean, I guess there’s always a possibility of something else though, so I’ll probably wait until 4/1. Thanks for your help!

You did not apply ED, so there is no binding obligation to pull the other applications at this point. The schools know that everyone accepted will not attend, especially the larger ones. Just email them with a decline of admission as soon as you hear from them and all will be well.
