I know there are several other posts with a similar topic, but my situation is a bit different. It’s December 29th and I really want to apply to a few more colleges, but all the colleges that I like have January 2nd deadlines. I go back to school on the 3rd, but even so, transcripts take awhile to send and plus my counselor will be super ****ed if I try to do that…
So…applying to more colleges in such a short time period (with transcripts at least a week late), okay or terrible idea??
You should do some soul searching and ask yourself if there is any benefit to applying to these extra schools. At some point, you just have to draw a line and accept that just as admissions officers pass up many qualified applicants in their selection, you will be passing up several colleges that would be a good fit for you.
Along the lines of the above poster, will these colleges be worth angering your guidance counselor? I had also chosen to apply to 5 more colleges last minute and decided it was worth the risk as my school’s guidance counselors had gotten furious in cases of late transcript requests. He actually was pretty calm and didn’t mind much. If you really like these schools, go for it. If you don’t see yourself going there, then don’t waste your time. Also, admissions reps realize that sometimes things will arrive late. Although it may not work in your favor, I don’t think they’d reject you for sending in transcripts late.
