Sending in Updates After Submitting Application

Hi,

So I’m wondering if anyone here knows how I’m supposed to send in updates to places like Harvard and Stanford after submitting my application. I know MIT has the FUN form, but I couldn’t find much for the others. Am I just supposed to send them an email and will they fully consider it? And should I include a small narrative (~50 words) about my new accomplishment?

I have a few things that I believe will significantly help my chances. For example, I might have a research paper accepted to a pretty selective conference. Also, I’ve recently developed an interest in entrepreneurship and I’m founding an outreach program at my school and I’m also working with an organization to expand it internationally. There’s a very good chance of this one succeeding. This is where I feel the short narrative is necessary.

Thanks!

It is fine to send an email to your admissions officer with a meaningful update if there is no portal or other place to add it. Just keep it short and sweet (a short paragraph or so).

The update email I sent included a bulleted list of the recent achievements I wanted to add, and I also included another paragraph of why I wanted to attend the college. I don’t know if this was the right way to structure it, but I did get off the waitlist for Tufts and WashU. Hope this helped!
