I e-mailed the orchestra directors/violin teachers at my prospective colleges. They haven't responded...but should I just send them a recording anyway? If so, what should I write to them along with the CD?

Normally, you just send it directly to the admissions office.
It depends on the school, I guess.

I think it depends on why you're sending it...

If it is for a music scholarship, then call the music department and find out exactly who it should be addressed to.

If it is for admissions, I'd send it to the Admission's office.

you usually have to be pretty good to catch their attention. Are you playing tchaikovsky, sibelius, or paganini concerto by any chance?

recording has me playing the Bruch Violin Concerto, and Bach Partitia. I thought they were two great contrasting pieces. Anyway, I'll just send it to the admissions offices.

Good luck OHgiraffe. I bet they are wonderful!

Thanks so much! Good luck to you!
