Hmm, the actual reason why I am applying to MIT is because of it's "ethos" - meritocracy and technocracy. Since there was no real space for stating this explicitly on the application, I was wondering whether I could send in a small message describing my fascination for MIT. Would this actually be contra-productive?

If you feel like you want to send something along, feel free to do so. I would advise doing it ASAP, though.

Thank you, mollie.
Do you think it would be best to fax it to the undergraduate admission office?

Fax would be great, I think -- more reliable than the mail. :)

If you don't already know the fax number, you can find it by searching the "offices" radio button on web.mit.edu with "admissions office". The first result that comes up has the fax number on it.
