Is it fine to send say 2 extra recs (another teacher, and one non-school) to schools like HYPMS? I know that they get many applications, so I am in some doubt... I hope it's okay.

dont send in more than they ask, so in this case, no only 1, they will disregard the second one

Yale says in the appication FAQ:

"Is it OK if I submit supplementary letters of recommendation?

We strongly discourage students from submitting more than the two required letters from teachers and the letter from a guidance counselor or college advisor that accompanies the School Report Form. Additional letters can have the effect of cluttering an application file, often repeating what has been said elsewhere, and can leave a reader wondering which letters are the most important recommendations. Three, four, or even five letters from teachers rarely do more work for a candidate than two."

Don't send in extra recs just to have MORE recs. It isn't a competition for who can have the most recs. It is, however, important that you have GOOD recs. If you feel that a supplementary rec will add significantly to your application and show yourself from a whole new perspective and talk about you in ways that no other rec does, then send it.
