Sending music with my app?

I have been playing the piano for about 10 years, and I want to send music with my app with a few songs on it. Is there a particular format in which it is supposed to be sent? Is this a good idea? Any tips would help. Thanks

Look at the websites of the schools you're looking at. They probably spell out their specific requirements or recommendations for sending supplemental materials. If, after checking the website, you still have questions, e-mail or call the admissions office.

In general, if the colleges permit this sort of thing to be sent, and you're reasonably talented, it can only work in your favor. But you need to check with each school because they'll have their own preferences about formats, genres of pieces, etc. that can vary dramatically from school to school.

You might also check and see if the schools that interest you have live auditions. With my D, we discovered that at some schools, while the admissions people were a bit in the dark about this, if you go straight to the Music Dept. and ask, or inquire of someone involved with your instrument, auditions are possible. You might want to check on the Music Dept's websites as well. At UC Berkeley, for example, the Admissions website didn't say anything about sending additional materials, but on the Music Dept's website, there was information about sending tapes or cd's and a specific person to whom it should be sent (at a different address than Admissions.)
