Sending only the ACT

I took the SAT in October 2012 and I miserably failed, so much so that if I sent that score to Stanford I'd have no chance of being accepted. However, I managed to ace the ACT in one shot. Is it possible to simply send SAT Subject Tests + an ACT score?

No I don’t think so. On the Stanford undergrad admissions website, it says “If you take both tests, all scores are required from both”.

<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University;

Also, most schools would consider only your better scores although they may want to know your test history.

You must send ALL scores as stated-- no going around the rules. Your GC should know this about Stanford as well.

“You must send ALL scores as stated-- no going around the rules.”

This applies to any given test. If you submit an SAT Reasoning Test, then you must submit all SAT Reasoning Tests. Likewise, if you submit an ACT, then you must submit all ACTs.

Therefore, you can definitely submit your ACT without submitting the SAT.

^^^aleaiactaest - that is NOT correct! Stanford explicitly states that if you take both the SAT and ACT you must submit all scores from both tests. Therefore you can definitely NOT submit your ACT without submitting the SAT!!

^ yup I agree. It’s on their website

Actually, because the ACT requires each test date to be sent separately and each cost money, stanford says u can send ONE ACT test (i would obv say ur highest) and self report the rest in order to save money on that. I read this somewhere on stanfords website a few weeks ago.

^ Yes, that is on their website about submitting score too. What is not clear is who judge if your financial concern is valid or not. Obviously it is cheaper to send only one ACT score for anyone. That makes the all score policy not very meaningful.

But to be honest, if you send your best ACT score (which they require u send one in anyways even if u took like 4) and you self score the best, I doubt they really will value your other ACT scores, as long as they have the highest ACT from you that is official report. I think that the all score thing is more focused on the SAT aspect imo.

^ It could be as there is no excuse not to send all SAT scores for the same cost. For ACT, I guess self reporting the other ACT scores are sufficient for them as they audit some applications and no one want to take unnecessary risk to be expelled.

does it say anywhere if they only accept official reports or accept them off your transcript?

You need to submit official scores.

They won’t mind the poor score. They’ll only really look at your top score.
