sending other references / resume

hi,

do i send other references, such as non teacher ones, along with a one page resume to yale when I send other forms in?

did anyone send in anything extra?

is it frowned upon?

thanks.

I sent in a resume with a clippings of the school newspaper of which I was editor.

I think if it serves a purpose, go for it. If it's redunant, though, it's probably not such a good idea.

ok, thanks.

i have a few business references.

i guess if I send these in myself (since i have since left the companies) and right my name with early action, etc. they will be matched to my application?

these are extremely important and could tip the scale.

Oh, there are guidelines as to how to send in supplements. Check the admissions booklet. I think you need your birthdate, social security number, and, of course, your name. I can't quite remember, though.

i don't have an admissions booklet. hhmmm.

the supplement comes online august 1st. hopefully there is more information.

i sent both an outside rec and a resume..it was not a problem

hey, do you remember how you marked the envelope?

it's exactly what i want.
btw, this resume is from work experience. i hope that's what you sent? It doesn't list ECs, per se.

also, did yale tell you that they received it?

I don't think Yale lets you know they receive any part of your application, you do receive a notice that the whole application is complete.

As noted above, if it adds new, pertinent information, do send it.

I sent a resume of work experience in Filmmaking (my intended major) and clippings from the Newspaper I was editor for.

barski, how long was your resume? fortunately, it does fit with my intended major.

also, could you tell me what you marked it as on the envelope? Did you right "RD" or "SCEA" with your name?

thank you very much! :)

A page total...a basic resume should (if possible) be that length

how did they match it to your resume? did you write something on the envelope?

Hmmm...no I didn't...I guess they would know that I was RD seeing how late they would have recieved it. I wouldn't woory...I'm pretty sure it just ends up in your "file" so it will be considered at the right time. I think they just look at the names and place it in a file.

I studied abroad junior year, and most schools (Yale included) want teacher recs from junior year. Should I send recs from my home school, my school abroad, or both?
