Sending out other applications

If you’re accepted into a school ED, can’t they only take action if you don’t enroll there? In other words, if I sent out a few other applications when I sent the ED one (and haven’t cancelled them) and sent a few after I was accepted, how would the ED school know? As long as I don’t enroll there, would they even know?

Schools publish lists. Things get around. You're already in and you must attend that school; I'm sure it's tempting to see what other schools think of you, but a.) if an applicant is interested in being flattered, he has to give up the ED advantage and apply RD b.) you may end up paying the highest price (the school rescinding your acceptance) if they find out.

If you have been accepted ED, there is a great likelihood that even if you did send in you app, your GC report and midyear grades, probably won't make it to the colleges, because your GC is also responsible for signing off on the ED application and knows whether or not you have been accepted. Why would she or should she want to jepordize her credibility, her relationships with colleges and possibly her job just to in the stuff to complete the RD applications which you were suppose to have withdrawn?

When are GCs notified? I've spoken with her recently and she hasn't said anything about my acceptence. And, she's filled out other college applications for me, so I don't know why she wouldn't send my grade report. I don't get that about ED- as long as you do attend that school, why does it matter that you send applications elsewhere?

Think about the rest of us. Sending in other applications makes the applicant pool bigger increasing the possibility that other people get rejected. You're already accepted. Give the rest of us a better chance by not applying.

There is a list that names all of the ED acceptees with ssn that is circulated among those colleges that are interested in this info. Your ED school is not looking for evidence that you are applying elsewhere, but they are providing the info that you have been accepted with a binding contract to their school. Those schools that see your name and check these things, just flush you from the process. I doubt if anything punitive occurs if you do not withdraw your apps. You are just being rude and inconsiderate to others who are still in the process. You are of the age where you are now building your character and it is things like this that make the building blocks. It is much easier to disregard these things than to do them, and they easily become a habit and style. People who do not discipline themselves to observe these courtesies usually end up paying in some way at some time for not learning to do this. It's like just eating one potato chip or one nut. Hard to do.
