Sending Required Documents On SSS & Business/Farm Statement

Hello everyone,

I am an applicant from Vietnam. I have completed the PFS form and now I am asked to submit some required documents. I do not know whether I just need to send scanned original documents in Vietnamese? Or do I have to submit the translated documents (but not notarized) along with the scanned original ones?

Also, I really confuse when filling question 6 on the Business/Farm Statement (it asks about "Your Share of Profit/Loss: Refer to Schedule C (1040), Schedule F, Schedule K-1,
Form 1065, or Form 1120"). The form also instructs me to enter the number on the PFS, question 7I which aks about "Net profit/loss from business and/or farm". Due to my lack of experience, I have submitted the PFS form first, and I answered: "$1440" (2011) and "$2074" (estimated on 2012) on the PFS form. However, I do not think that these numbers will make sense when I type them on question 6 of the Business/Farm Statement.

I know my case is quite confusing, and I really appreciate your help.

These are questions that you really should direct to SSS. Since it is their forms, they can give you the best answers, I think. They have an email address on their site - you can use that to write and ask your questions.

If you are still uncertain, you can also write directly to the financial aid director at the school you are applying to. Explain your questions and ask their advice.

@dodgermom: Thank you for the reminder. I do not have much experience with this, though. I have emailed to SSS but there was no answer. I really confuse right now so I decide to post on CC.

Alright, problem solved, I hope. I have contacted Andover’s financial aid office and was told the following:

International students do not need to submit U.S. tax forms or farm/business statements with their financial aid applications. An international student must instead do the following:

(1) Complete the online PFS and submit it to SSS
(2) Complete an International Student Financial Aid Form (XLS). This form is available to download from Andover’s [“How to Apply for Financial Aid”](<a href=“http://www.andover.edu/Admission/TuitionAndFinancialAid/ToApply/Pages/default.aspx]"How”>http://www.andover.edu/Admission/TuitionAndFinancialAid/ToApply/Pages/default.aspx) page. When completed, this form must be submitted to SSS, not to Andover.
(3) Provide your own proof of income (from your country). This documentation must be translated into English and must also be uploaded to SSS. (Do not send these forms directly to the school.) No other documentation is required.

If you still have questions, contact the Andover financial aid office directly. They are swamped, but will get back to you as quickly as they can.

Please note that this information is for Andover only. I have not checked on financial aid requirements for any other schools, although I would guess that they are probably similar. They do not expect you to submit U.S. tax forms - those forms are for U.S. citizens/residents only.

And if you still need help, contact the financial aid office of whatever school you are applying to - they are there to help you! :)
