Sending SAT and ACT scores to colleges HELP

Okay so I think I messed up a little. Everyone please help.

I took the new SAT in May and used the 4 free score report credits that they provide. I mentioned my dream uni’s name too. However, my scores didn’t turn out to be pretty well. But the scores were sent to the uni anyhow.
Then, I gave the ACT in June and got a good score. Now I want only my ACT score to be considered for admission to my dream uni.

What should I do? Is there a way so that my SAT score gets disregarded?
All suggestions/opinions would be appreciated.

You should start by sending your ACT score to your dream uni. Send to your other colleges of choice while you are at it. The SAT issue is water under the bridge, and the only way you’ll get them to consider your ACT score is if you send it.

For your piece of mind, read up on how your schools consider test scores so that you prepare yourself. Yes, it could be considered risky that you submitted the SAT. However, if your school(s) of choice require that you send all scores you would have had to send it anyway. And if they allow you Score Choice or the ACT equivalent then most likely they consider just the highest score. Read their websites for clarification on that. Many schools superscore and therefore encourage students to send in all scores, even if such is not strictly required.

Finally, make sure other aspects of your application match that high ACT score, rather than that low SAT score. Adcoms are going to look for consistency in an application. Do an outstanding job on those parts that you can still control (rec letters and essay, for instance) and you stand a better chance of the adcom ignoring that SAT.

Adcoms love easy applications (i.e. an obvious Admit or Reject). It’s the ones in the middle that they spend the most time over because they have to sort those into “Admit”, “Waitlist” and “Decline”. Sometimes they have to split some pretty fine hairs to make those decisions! Could a low SAT be one of those “fine hairs”? Absolutely - if the rest of the application landed you squarely in the “Uncertain” pile to begin with. So do your best to make sure it doesn’t.

Good luck to you!
