My son took the SATs twice. One score has higher reading and they higher math. Some colleges superstore.
Question- Do I pay twice with College Board to send two test scores to one college?
Next, he’s taking Math 2 subject tests next week and begins senior year. Should I have him submit these scores to colleges free now or wait and see how he does? Then I’m stuck paying for these as well.
Here’s the thing about the free score reports, IMO. They are fine if the 4 schools are safeties or schools that require all scores. Perhaps not the best strategy for colleges that use score choice.
When you pay for the score report, assuming the college allows, you choose which tests (both SAT and Subject Tests) to report.
Many schools allow students to self report test scores on the application. At these schools students send official scores only upon matriculation. Obviously this saves money… check each college website to see which ones allow self reporting of test scores.
Adding to skieurope’s response: majority of colleges do not even consider subject test scores for determining admission. The ones that require or receommend subject tests are generally high ranked colleges, which cannot be considered safeties by anyone, and thus, unless you are taking a later test where it might be necessary to use the free sends just to get the tests to the college in time, you should consider just holding off sending them until after you get the scores unless the college requires that you send all subject test scores. There is currently only one college in the nation, Georgetown, which requires you to provide all subject test scores, and thus for any others you should consider holding off until after you get the scores.
