Sending SAT scores one year before applying

Hello,

I am a student from Australia who is taking the SAT for the first time on Jan 26th. I understand that one gets four free score reports to send, and additional reports cost $10. Some colleges I am thinking of applying to want all scores, so it is irrelevant how I do on this test as to whether or not to send the score. As such, I was thinking of using the free reports to send scores to Stanford, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon and Cornell.

However, I will not be applying to college until next year (end of 2014) for admission into the class of 2019. As such, would it be unwise to send in these scores a whole cycle before I send in the rest of my application? Will they get lost or otherwise confused? I don't really want to waste the extra $40 later on down the track.

Thanks,
Charlie

tl;dr Can you send SAT scores one cycle before sending the rest of your application?

it will be fine.

You need to email/call schools and check. Some schools will hang onto them for a year, but some schools will clear out files once a year in the summer (I forgot which school told me this, but one or two that I spoke with did).

but of course handwriting your questions to admissions will be more touching

I sent my ACT and SAT scores ~6-7 months prior to applying to some schools and had no issues
