How soon in relation to the deadline should SAT scores be sent to a college? I've taken all of the required tests for all of my schools, and I'm now waiting for my December scores which were retakes of SATIIs I took already. I'm working on a few applications now that are due the first week of January and I heard that SATs take a few weeks to be sent. What I need to know is: Should I send the scores I have so far to these schools now, or can I wait for Dec 21 for the rest of my scores to come in and send them then?

If you're confident then send the scores now, if you wait till your scores are available College Board will charge around 9 dollars for each school you send your scores to.

i don't care about that cost, 4 schools will be covered for free w/ that test, ang i only have a few more, my question has to do with timing.

The timing will be fine, but i don't think you get your four free schools if you wait till your scores are available, but i'm not too sure about that though.

You are correct - you cannot wait until the scores are in to designate the 4 free score reports. Check the website to see the deadline for designating them.

Check your schools' websites. Most will tell you if they'll accept the December testing. If yes, wait until you've got the results and send them.

I think you misunderstood my question. What i want to know is: How close to the deadline can I send my scores so that the college sees them with my application? I think it takes a few weeks for the schools to get them so do I have send them a few weeks in advance or can I wait until a few days before the application is due?

It's supposed to take about two business days.

oh, thanks. I guess i was mistaken. That makes my problem a lot easier.

It's two business days if you rush, which costs 26.50 extra, and then 9.50 per college...

Why don't you just add all your colleges to your latest SAT registration, so that December is included in the report? (assuming you're confident with your scores) You have until Monday to add the four free schools and pay 9.50 for each extra college. You can send then now and omit the Dec. test score, or choose to add them now to the Dec. registration.

There's no sense in waiting until you get your scores back because if you hold off sending your scores to see if you got what you wanted, by then you'll have to send the Dec. test scores anyway. What's worse, you might be late and have to rush your scores (many schools request SAT scores be sent by the first or second week of January).

I'm not sure how long it takes for scores to be sent if you tie them to the registration, but it takes three weeks if you send the request online.

ok I'll do that, thanks.
