DS just took the March SAT and thinks he did ok, but didn't really study for it. He is not trying to get into super competitive schools, but does have a few reaches. I assume from his PSAT that he will get around 1800-2000.

We only have a couple of days to decide whether to send his free ones.

Would you send them? To reaches, safeties or matches?

Money is the only issue. He gets four free sends if you designate now and send scores blind. You get no free sends if you wait until after scores come out and cost for sending scores after they come out is $10.50 per college. Many like to know what they are sending before doing so.

Also note that if he will be taking another SAT later such as subject tests, you will again have the opportunity for four free sends before scores come out and those can be used to also send prior scores.

I sent D2’s scores to the UCs, I live in CA. I lurked CC SAT forum and was confident that D2 would score reasonably high. So I changed it after she took the test and sent them to UCs. My reason for sending to UCs is that UCs don’t require SAT subject tests and UCs don’t really care about SAT scores that much. As long as one’s SAT scores is in the range. GPA is more important to UCs.
