Hey, I'm a rising senior, and I'm a little overwhelmed. I'm not clear on when to send SAT scores and FA forms. Can we submit scores before we send the common app?

Is there a way to check if the college has received everything? (scores, FA forms, app, recs, etc.) I guess we would call or e-mail, but that seems rude.

Yes, you can send test scores any time, colleges will hold them and start a file when the rest of your application is received.

Colleges often have online information where they post when parts of your application come in and you can check it periodically. However, this can sometimes be delayed when pieces have been received but not yet put into the system. You can send a self-addressed, stamped post card with various parts, requesting that the school put it in the mail. However, this only works with some schools that do so, we had many schools that did return the postcards but received the materials just fine. It’s kind of a judgment call as to when you need to contact a school, generally all goes pretty well. One thing to be careful about is being sure your teachers and GC know about deadlines for various colleges.

FAFSA is not available until Jan and the Profile comes out in about Oct I believe. It’s good to turn in FA forms as soon as you can, but be aware that if your parents haven’t done their taxes yet, you will have to submit in a corrected FAFSA and Profile schools usually require hard copy corrections.

^thanks for the response :)
