Sending Scores?! Huh?

I don't really understand the concept of 'sending scores' to colleges. After asking my counselor about it, I'm only confused even further.

Is it true that colleges only see whatever scores you send them? If I'm taking the ACT/SAT as a practice test, should I avoid sending scores? And once I take a test without sending the scores to a specific college, can I still somehow get them my score to apply?

Thanks in advance...

1) they only see what you send them
2) don't send if it's just for practice; they won't know it's practice
3) You may indeed send them after you have left the testing center and viewed the score at home. However, you have to pay for each score you report to the college.

Just read above post.

Question:

My sister asked if you're only supposed to send them if you have already applied, or if you can send them just to express your interest in that school.

no
do NOT send scores if you're just interested in the school

as for sending scores only if you applied, you can either do that (most colleges allow you to send scores after the application/paperwork deadline) or send it along with your other stuff...but make sure what the policies of your college are first

Only if you've already applied. It will not help show interest, they will likely ignore it until they get your application materials.

I read on another thread that a college can request your complete test record at any time. Is this so?

I think this is a really great question, so I'm going to bump. Anyone?

I'm pretty sure they can. But they are only "supposed" to look at what you send them. I wouldn't worry about this.
