Sending scores - simple, probably stupid question.

Hi,

I am applying for transfer in 2012, currently studying engineering in India. Just gave the SAT on the October test date. The College board website tells me that I have four free score report sending credits and I have until October 10th to send them. As obvious, I haven't formally applied to any college yet. Can / Should i send the scores to a few colleges already? Is it possible? Do i need to finalize the list of colleges I am applying to before the score sending deadline i.e. Oct 10?

I couldn't find help on the college board website, so i decided to post it here. Sending reports later will cost me $10.50 per college, which is a lot for my family to bear. The tests themselves are pretty hard on the wallet.

If there are four colleges you’re 100% sure you’re applying for, you can send them. They’ll start to make a file for you and add your other stuff as it comes.

Even if i haven’t applied to them specifically, or even applied through common app? basically, all i have done yet is given the SAT and set up a common app account. does this still apply?

i’m curious about this too. bump!

Yes, you can send SAT score reports any time, colleges will hold them until your application is submitted.

Just a heads up–in US English, we don’t “give” tests, we “take” them. Not saying it makes any particular sense, it’s just the proper idiom. Good luck with your applications.

Wait the deadline for the free score reports is the 10th but the four free score reports don’t show up on my SAT score page anymore was the deadline really yesterday?

It ended 10 AM indian time, if i am not wrong. I filled up my choices last night.
