Sending scores

I'm applying to the following colleges/universities:

UChicago EA
Lewis and Clark College EA
Whitman College
Skidmore College
Bard College
Grinnell College
Reed College (EDII if rejected from UChicago and RD if accepted at UChicago)

I'm currently scheduled to take my, hopefully final, ACT test on September 15th. With some app due dates as near as Nov 1, should I have the ACT people send my scores directly to the above listed colleges? I just don't understand the point in doing this, for it will be like them recieving a score from some random high schooler, only to get an application from that student several weeks later...

How is test reporting handled in the college application process? And are you required to send in scores of all standardized tests you've taken?

bump................

I talked to my high school counselor about this a while ago and she told me that the schools just open up a file for you and put the testing data in there. I don't imagine they would throw out anything.

Each school opens a file for the student with whatever they receive first: application, scores, letter of reference, etc.

The beauty of the ACT is that you don't have to send it. I'd advise that you look at the score first and determine if it is one that you wish to send. You don't have that option with SATs and SAT IIs because your entire College Board history (excluding APs) is sent together - unless you decide to send nothing and send your ACT instead.
