Sending some documents by FAX. Need urgent response

Thanks for trying to help.

I have just found out that I need to send the International Financial Aid Application and Certification of Finances to the universities/colleges I am applying to. I have also just found out about the Financial Aid agreement required by Caltech.

I'd send these documents by regular mail, but I am sure they will not arrive in time, or not arrive at all. I'd send them by EMS (quick mailing), but it is pretty expensive ($40 per packet of documents), considering the substantial amounts of universities to which I am applying (21 :)).

Now my question, can I send them by FAX? I am sure that Stanford and UPenn encourage to send these documents by FAX, but how about the other (e.g. Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth...).

If yes, then does anyone know if FAXes at universities are automatic, or should I first notify the admission staff that I want to send FAX papers.

One more question: I do not have access to a real FAXing machine, so I think I will consider using a WebToFAX online service. Is there anyone who has used such a service before? Does it work?

Thanks a lot!

my questions still stand… anyone?

I emailed my colleges and asked them if I could fax docs to them. I would assume if there’s a fax number on the website then you can fax docs to the college. If you want to be sure you could wait until tomorrow and call each college or email them. I never informed colleges that I was sending faxed documents. I just sent them and they were received.

thanks. i assume then that fax machines are automatic.

Just clearly state your name and purpose of the fax. The recipient worker will then file or forward the document to the appropriate people. It’s not that complex. Good luck to you.
