Sending subject test scores after deferral?

Hello everyone,

Notre Dame encourages deferred students to send new scores to demonstrate continued interest/improvement. I just realized that I never sent them some of my subject tests. So my question is twofold:

  1. Does Notre Dame want subject test scores sent after deferral? Do they care?
  2. Are these scores worth sending for a highly ranked university like ND?
  • World History: 680
  • Literature: 720
  • Spanish Lang- 680

Thanks!

@harear One way to think about this is in the context of ND’s mid-50% range for SAT/ACT scores. By every objective measure I’ve seen, ND’s mid-50% is usually around 98th to 99th percentile for standardized test scores.

Now, SAT subject tests obviously are administered to the “upper end” of high schoolers who are likely very serious students targeting selective colleges, so you could argue that a subject test score at say, the 90th percentile or higher might be compelling data to send to ND.

I don’t know where your particular scores fall in terms of national percentiles as I haven’t taken any subject tests yet, but I’d think carefully about sending anything to ND that wasn’t at least 90th percentile, and probably more like 95% percentile nationally since what you’re trying to do is make yourself an even more attractive candidate.

Probably more helpful than the subject tests would be a senior year fall semester of (hopefully) straight A’s in a rigorous course load and maybe some unique school honor you received since applying REA – something like “Most Inspirational” on a fall sports team, or a lead role in a fall performing arts production, etc.

Best of luck!
