Sending Summer Program Transcripts to Colleges That I'm Applying

Do we need to send college the official transcripts from credited summer program which we attend in the past? If so, it would be a hassle because this school allowed me to fill out an form for every three schools and I can only send one form a week and paying $20. Or should we simply listed the credited college course on our resume and without sending the official transcripts?

p.s. Actaully the course I took I didn't get the grade, all I got was 6 credits from the university.

Yes, you need to send the official transcripts. Sorry.

Wow, I seriously wish college admission can improve their system. Because otherwise it’s tremendous of work for every applicant who took courses at another university.

I would say ask the individual school. Some of the schools to which ds applied wanted a transcript, but others didn’t. Or you could not send it to any but your top choices and see whether the others ask.

Whenever you apply for admission to a degree program at an accredited college or university in the US, you are obligated to provide official copies of transcripts of all credit coursework at previous colleges and universities. Some institutions (in particular community colleges) may let you apply without an official transcript, but once you are admitted to a degree program they will need the official ones for their files. This has less to do with you as an individual applicant, than it has to do with the colleges and universities playing nice with each other.

Please be aware that if the institution to which you are applying expects official copies, your file won’t be complete, and won’t be reviewed by the admission committee, until the last official transcript arrives.

It also means that for the rest of your life, whenever you apply to a degree program (including that grad school program 35 years from now) you will have to provide an official copy of the transcript. It is OK for you to order a bunch of sealed official copies that you can keep in your own filing cabinet at home. That’s what I’ve done. Just today when looking for a full set (I’m up to seven, yes the number between six and eight, different transcripts now) for a job interview, I realized that I’ve run low on one university. Tomorrow I’ll send a note requesting more copies.

Thank you so much! Your input was very helpful!

I got my 3-credits at this public school for doing research during the summer, so I guess I will just tell this school to send a copy of my transcript to every college that I’m applying then, I just want to make sure this is something right to do.

hypsmc, you might not need to incur all this cost up front. If cost is an issue, you should ask each school about their specific requirements. You will definitely have to send the official transcript to any school you end up attending, but not all schools require them at the time of application. Many schools understand the economics involved and as a result they have policies allowing applicants to self report grades, courses, GPA from other institutions at the time of application and follow up with the transcript after being accepted.
