Sending supplemental materials?

I was just wondering, if I have extra materials that I’d like to send to Brown (resume, cover letter, etc.), how should I send these? Should I include them in the same envelope as my counselor rec. or school form? Or can I just send a separate envelope to the office of admissions?

sep is fine

I think either. Just make sure to put in a cover letter for each additional piece of info you supply so it's very clear what you are presenting. You dont' want to send in chaos. That will have a negative impact on your application instead of the positive one you are looking for and can achieve with additional info.

A couple of important things:

Make sure your additional info is really worthwhile, and really tells the admin officers somethign the rest of your application didn't convey. For instance, don't send a resume, as that is often very much a repeat of your EC section. Instead, take the free form EC section in the personal statement and make it into your resume. A cover letter? I'm not sure what you want to say in that, but whatever it is, you can probably incorporate it into the short answer questions or your personal statement essay.

IMO additional materials should be information about / documents of accomplishments or serious interests, or further important / clarifying information about items listed in your app, not just repeating the same.

In my Harvard interview (wow that was a long time ago) the admin officer who was conducting it said how she didn't like it when people sent in resumes, as they were so often repetitive of what was already on the app.

So think long and hard about what you send in. I'm all about sending in extra stuff. I sent in a ton of it. Just make sure it's well-presented and worthwhile.

If you'd like, PM me with what you're sending in or something.
