Harvard says that “Beginning with the 2018-2019 application cycle (students applying for Fall 2019 admission), applicants may provide self-reported SAT and ACT test scores (including Subject Tests, Advanced Placement, IB, etc.). Admitted students who decide to enroll at Harvard College will be required to submit official test scores.” So this means that we only need to state our scores in our Common App and we don’t need to actually send them to Harvard unless we’re admitted? Won’t this potentially mess up the application process?
Correct
No.The only issue is if you report a score that is not real.
@skieurope - Do you think that submitting incorrect scores would likely result in one’s acceptance being rescinded?
Absolutely, outright misrepresentation would lead to big trouble. H has been looking over its shoulder for some time and takes this seriously. They aren’t honesty optional.
As it is right now, the Common App lets you self report scores, along with submitting the offical reports to a college. One difference is discrepancies are noted sooner.
@sherpa Absolutely!!
The applicant signs the Common App which says, in part, (emphasis mine):
Perhaps the applicant may think that the checkbox is like a site’s ToS in that nobody actually reads, but the university will likely apply the rule of Ignorantia juris non excusat
