I just had an interview for an internship but they wouldn't give me the personal emails of the interviewers. The recruiter told me I could email her a message that she would pass along to them. Is it worth writing the thank you note? It feels awkward and insincere to me that the email has to pass through someone else.

If you would have sent a thank you not if you had a personal email address, then there’s no reason why you can’t send a thank you note through a third party. It won’t be awkward or insincere, unless what you write is awkward and insincere.
