Sending Transcripts

Hey Guys,

So I applied to Cornell RD but I totally missed the part where it says to mail an official transcript. Should I do that now? And how important are the official transcripts? Why won’t they just look at the reports on the common app?

They are very important. They need an official transcript from your HS to prove the validity of what you reported on the common app. However, I don’t recall that you can self report your transcript on the common app. You can self report your ACT/SAT/AP scores, but an official report would still need to be sent anyway from the college board or testing agency.

Your application will be considered incomplete without an official transcript. Usually colleges will contact your GC is they are missing things, but you better check on this right away with your GC.

Most HS GCs can send it electronically, especially if your HS uses Naviance then your GC can send it with the recs and school report. In my Ds high school, she had to request a transcript for all the colleges she was applying to and give it to her GC so they could be processed. If it’s a paper copy, then you need to request an official transcript from the registrar at your HS to be sent to Cornell.

This is what was posted on the Cornell admissions website on 1/7 regarding application materials:http://admissions.cornell.edu/news/application-materials

Yes, send it out immediately.

I have an opposite situation. I sent my transcript weeks ago, but it still isn’t checked off. :frowning:

@annwank‌ @TheDidactic‌ thank you guys so much!

If your counselor uploaded your transcript to the common app, that’s fine. If not, then EVERY school needs an official transcript, not just Cornell.

@jamesjunkers‌ We did both. Transcript was sent in the mail and uploaded on the Common App. Maybe Cornell got it. They just emailed and said that they would be letting me know if I’m missing anything and provided me the option to upload supplementary docs.
