I have one copy of my high school transcript and one copy of my college transcript (both unsealed, or "issued to student"). In order to save money from buying more transcripts, can I make copies of these to send to the schools I'm applying to as a transfer?

NO xxxxxxxxxx

Read the CA instructions, they call for official transcripts.

Maybe I incorrectly chose my words. I do not mean unofficial transcripts, as I indicated in thread’s title. Rather, I mean official transcripts issued by the university to me (the student). For example, the transcript request form has quite a few options, such as:

-pick up (unsealed)
-issue to student in unsealed envelope
-unofficial

I chose the first two options when I requested one transcript a few weeks ago for something else I’m applying to. It is indeed an “official” transcript. My question is will colleges accept this “unsealed” transcript, and, furthermore, will they accept copies of it.

Sorry for the confusion.

I do not think a school will accept an unsealed transcript. With today’s modern technology too much fear about altering.

For college apps, my definition of an official transcript is one that is both considered official by the issuing school and is sealed. For instance, when issuing official transcripts, our HS always seals the envelope and stamps the name of the school over the seal, so that it can’t be opened and tampered with.

yea my advisor told me to absolutely by no means open up the envelope, but it turns out my college just set them to each school so it never got to me anyway.
